At the customer's request, we modernized the hydraulically driven centrifuge from 1968 to the current state of the art.
For this purpose, the centrifuge was re-evaluated according to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and treated as a new machine. This includes a risk analysis and ignition source assessment of the centrifuge. The insights gained from this were implemented accordingly.
The conversion included the following items:
- Replacement of the hydraulic drive with an electric drive
- Installation of temperature monitoring for bearings
- Installation of N2 inertization for bearings
- Installation of a housing interlock
- Installation of vibration monitoring
- Installation of speed monitoring
- Replacement of all other electrical components
- New N2 inertization unit with redundant monitoring
- New control unit for Ex ZONE 1
- New safety-oriented plant control system
- New painting of the machine body
- UVV according to BGR500
- Revision and material testing of all product-contact parts
- Replacement of vibration dampers
- Revision of process connections for inertization, filling, and washing
- Remanufacture of the filling line and washing nozzles in HC22
- New plant documentation including original operating instructions
- New test book for centrifuges
